From over at Red Mosquito’s blog, here's the Musical IQ test:
Me?
Your final score was 141/180
Mix-Tape Master (109-144 points)
You are a music evangelist: the person in your network of friends who always has the coolest new song, the one whose iPod gets picked to DJ every party. You understand the art of the segue, how the key to the best mix-tape isn't just the songs you pick, but how they interlock with each other. You also know who the up-and-coming acts are and are quick to recognise where their influences lie and whether they will make it big. You work hard at the pursuit of this knowledge, scouring music blogs, magazines and record stores. Most importantly, you are generous with your passion – and your friends should be very, very grateful. Still, it’s always good to get new inspiration for your latest mix.
I don't think a word of that holds, actually. I've never had anyone want to use my iPod (or anything else musical, for that matter) at a party. Even at my own parties (when we used to have them) other people would play their own music mostly. I only find out about shows when friends are going and happen to invite me. I've only ever really read a few music blogs (most recently Three Gigs) and mostly it was just to pillage free MP3s off them. I don't think I've *ever* read a music magazine and rarely manage to get into a record store. I will however offer up musical suggestions if people ask, so perhaps I'm generous that way. I think I can make a decent mixed tape as well, but I suppose I would since I like the music I listen too.
If anyone would like a mixed CD mailed to them, I'd be willing to make one up and mail it to you, or provide a zipped download. Then maybe you can tell me if I suck, and how much. Send me a message with your addy if you want one, or leave a comment asking for the download link if you're interested and I'll get working on it.
Audio: Share the most embarrassing song on your mp3 player.
I don't have an MP3 player. Aside from, you know, my computer. I'll look around and see what I find on here, but I'm at work right now.
Nope, sorry. Nothing too embarrassing here. Listen to this instead:
Audio: What's your favorite carol or holiday song?
Video: Show us a music video you'd gladly watch over and over again.
Wut? I like power tools.
Audio: Share a song that reminds you of a current or past relationship.
Okay, time to see the softer side of Kyle, eh? Fine. Here you go:
